Working at home provides savings in time and traveling costs for commuting. Especially with today's fuel costs, commuting can be a significant budget issue and this can be eliminated working at home. Eating at home instead of eating out often can provide good savings. Expenses for home office equipment are deductible as well as internet and phone services and partial rent or mortgage costs.
Working at home helps prevent illness. When something breaks out that is contagious in an office building, you are bound to catch it. At home you are not exposed. There is less stress and anxiety which makes illness less likely. Less exposure and less stress can lead to savings in health care costs.
One of my favorite advantages of working at home is the independence; no boss speaking down to you and breathing down your neck. You dictate your hours. You are free to take time off or divert your attention if needed. If you have a windfall of creative energy at 3 AM, your work day starts then. Your creative efforts are self-directed and not stifled or constricted by the opinions and control of others. You can be more productive doing without the social issues that waste time and energy in the office setting. If you are working in referral marketing or another field that leverages your efforts, then your potential income is unlimited as opposed to a fixed per hour wage or salary.
In conclusion, working at home can be quite beneficial to your health, family life, and financial well being.
