Finding Time to Start Your Home Business

If you are a stay at home mom or dad like me, finding the time to start your home business can be the biggest challenge. I am lucky enough that my son still takes a nap for at least 2 hours during the day. He also goes to bed by 8:30 at night. I usually spend from 2 to 5 hours a day working from home. That is really more than you need to make your home business successful.

By reading this article you will know if you want to take on the challenge of starting a home business. You will also know how to find the time to dedicate to your new venture. You will also know what type of home business works best for stay at home parents.

What are some of the challenges for a work at home mom or dad? Well with soccer practices, school activities, changing diapers and chasing kids around the house, you already have a full plate. Everyone that has been looking into working from home has seen the ads for working 1-2 hours day while making a lot of money. Well working the 1-2 hours a day is really all you need to do. The problem is you will not make a lot of money right away doing that. If you do work 1-2 hours every day you can make a very good living from home, but it does take time.

How can you find time to work at home? Not everyone can be as lucky as me to have a young son that takes naps and goes to bed early. You also don't need to be on the computer all day to be working from home either. You can take a notepad with you to soccer practice and write an article like this one. Maybe grandma can take the kids for an hour or two to help out. If the kids go over to a friend's house you can use that time to be creative and get some work done. There are ways to make time you just take advantage of any time you can get. Once you have your home business up and running all you really need to do is check email. It does take some time to get to that point.

Choosing what type of business is hard to do. There are so many different opportunities out there how do you sift through them all. There are "jobs" like data entry, or typing, or writing articles where you get paid for what you do. But if you are like me that is not enough. I wanted something that would build an income, not have to get paid by how much I work. Direct sales and Niche Marketing fall into that category to a certain extent. You can get set up with Niche Marketing so eventually you do not have to work as hard, but there is no residual income. You still have to make sales to get paid. Multi-level Marketing or MLM is a form of Network Marketing that is usually loaded with residual income options. However you want to start your work at home business you really need to do the research to get familiar with the company that you choose.

Now you know that by choosing the business you plan to work in can be one of the hardest parts of working at home. Finding the time to be at home with your kids and doing the work is never easy. But working through the challenges of being a work at home parent can and is very rewarding.

I think one of the most important points of running a business from home is having a dedicated place for business. Whether an entire floor, office, or even closet, you simply need some place where you can mentally enter your inner business person - especially when juggling eight things at once.
